Located in Historic Waynesboro, Fishburne is steeped in southern military tradition. Founded in 1879, Fishburne is one of the oldest military schools still in operation and the oldest in Virginia. It has held the Army JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction for 90 consecutive years. The school offers cadets rappelling, Raider Teams and annual trips to Virginia Military Institute, Fort. A.P. Hill and Fort Pickett for obstacle course training. The school hosts an average of 200 boys in grades 7 through 12 and maintains an 8:1 student-teacher ratio.

Fork Union Military Academy
Supported by the Baptist General Association of Virginia, Fork Union is not affiliated with the military. It was founded in 1898 and has evolved into a well-respected all-male boarding school. The school houses boys in grades 6 through 12 and offers a postgraduate college preparatory program. Fork Union offers cadets a variety of sports, clubs, organizations and improved SAT scores. The school success is measured in the 70 students it educated who went on to be drafted or signed by NFL teams.

Hargrave Military Academy
