Military Schools in California
The education offered by the five military schools in California ranges from 6th grade-level, secondary school, to post-graduate degrees.
Environments are generally more disciplined than in non-military schools, but few, if any, require military service after graduation.
California Maritime Academy
Cal Maritime, as it's often called, is a higher education institute that is part of the California State University system. The school offers baccalaureate degrees and a master's degree program.
Located 30 miles north of San Francisco, applicants can opt for an on-campus experience and an online study program when available.
The California Maritime Academy requires no military service to any branch after graduation, but financial aid is available of a student chooses a program offered through the navy, air force or coast guard.
California Military Institute
The California Military Institute (CMI) supports and educates students in grades five through 12.
Offering not only a strong academic and athletics program, CMI presents an impressive community service program as an integral part of its mind-and-body approach to education for its approximately 500 male and female students.
Oakland Military Institute
Located in Oakland, Calif., it is one of 37 high schools in the Oakland Unified School district and maintains very high entrance and academic standards.
However, not all is work at CMI. Both boys and girls enjoy a wide variety of sports programs that not only helps develop the body but also challenges the mind and develops self-discipline.
St. Catherine's Academy
St. Catherine's is a boys-only day or boarding school that educates grades Kindergarten through eight. Incorporating movement and hands-on learning, St. Catherine's channels curiosity and energy into disciplined learning and athletics.
